Hello Everyone:
I want to take the time to introduce myself to the Membership of the Ontario Huron-Bruce Liberal Party.
My name is Shelley Blackmore, and I am a resident of rural Huron County, in Howick Township. I have been nominated to stand as your Provincial Liberal candidate in the next election and I intend, with your help, to represent the riding of Huron-Bruce in our next provincial government.
I sought the nomination because I believe change in our political landscape is overdue. Huron-Bruce deserves a representative that can speak up for the unique needs of our communities in Queen’s Park. Together we can make a difference in improving the quality of life for our riding, and all of rural Ontario.
My husband and I have lived in Howick for over twenty years. We have raised two sons, a chosen daughter, and have four grandchildren. I have spent 38 years in education, first as a teacher for the Perth County Board of Education and, later, as a principal for the Avon Maitland District School Board. After retiring, I continued as a supply principal in area schools. My career in education has given me a wealth of experience and allowed me to develop leadership skills that will be invaluable in political life.
I have been an active volunteer in the region for many years, serving on the Board of Directors of the Huron Perth Centre for Youth and Children, Co-Chair of the North Perth Community of Character, and I am currently the Chair of the Community Committee of the United Way in North Perth. My goal has always been to help build strong communities that provide the necessary social support for all our citizens to thrive.
My role as your MPP will be to serve the constituency to the best of my ability. I will be a tireless advocate for Huron-Bruce at Queen’s Park, ensuring the voices of rural Ontario are heard loud and clear. I am looking forward to meeting all of you in person, when the lifting of pandemic restrictions allows. Until then, I would like to hear your issues and concerns. Please feel free to contact me via email or social media listed below.
We will defeat the Ford government in the next election, but I will need your help. If you are able to volunteer in our campaign, please send your contact information to jimnewman4161@gmail.com or shellblac@gmail.com
I am looking forward to the road ahead, where we can reinstate a Liberal government that leads with empathy, compassion, understanding, equity and inclusion, and leaves no one in Huron-Bruce behind.
Shelley Blackmore
